"At
times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.
Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who
have lighted the flame within us."  - Albert Schweitzer

Candlelit table - copyright erie chapman 2012  Our co-contributor to this Journal, Liz Wessel, provided Schweitzer's quote. She is the kind of light in this world who, when we are weary of caregiving, ignites the flame within us. Her steadfast compassion touches hearts every day.

The prayer of thanks I say today is for those who rekindle "the flame within us." Without these illuminating people, so much of our lives would be gray.

During our hardest chapters our light dims so deeply we may feel we can never recover.

The people who help us are the ones who, intentionally or randomly, remind us that Love is always present and always available to our lives.  For darkness comes when we forget Love's nearness.

What a gift to be loved. What gratitude we may feel for the inspiration of someone we may not know who inspires us by the way they live Love in this world.

Who has rekindled your hope? Who are we helping to rediscover Love?

Today, we may celebrate the chance we have to rekindle the fires of life in another by offering the spark of love – a touch, a look, an example, a word, a sharing.

Something that signals that hope is a ship on the horizon. And it is sailing our way.

I receive your Thanksgiving blessing with deep gratitude, Erie…and I carry with me the lovely hope you offer us, “ the chance we have to rekindle the fires of life in another by offering the spark of love – a touch, a look, an example, a word, a sharing.” Thank you for your gift, your spark of Divine Love.

Your Thanksgiving message is poignant, as are all of your Meditations. The reminder that we have so many people in our lives who are blessings, loving us, helping us with our lives. Thank you

Hi Erie, one of my lights is the music of Paul Simon. I was at a very low point and my husband and I got to see him live in concert, right after the Graceland CD came out. The music surrounding his poetry, the multicultural dancing, the message of peace was just what I needed, and has continued to be a source of joy for me. Blessings, Stephanie

I am returning to work for Alive Hospice after taking a week off with my family. I absolutely love that I work for a place that promotes Radical Loving Care. I first heard of Erie Chapman in 2008 and since have looked for a place that really seemed to understand the golden thread that connects each of us. I believe that I have found it! There are copies of “Radical Loving Care” in every nook and cranny of Alive Hospice. Thank you for all of the work you continue to do!
