Or you can swallow 5 milligrams of Valium or one of the opioids commonly prescribed by doctors.

We have such confidence in medications that we have all but given up on the idea that anything but drugs can bring us comfort.

Yet, the right words, the right music or the right scenery can have just as much effect on us physically as may a drug. We know that but are unlikely to choose music over medication.

It is remarkably hard to convince leaders that their demeanor impacts team energy. It also does not make sense to them that the way a nurse walks into a room or the tone of a leader in a crisis affects brain chemistry.

If you agree that it does, think about the effect your presence & your words have on those around you. Look again at this waterfall. Marvel at Beauty's effect.

Ok, Chip! It’s just not fair to show such peaceful waterfalls and stuff! We can extend our presence in helping others with our words, music and other creative efforts.
And just before I read this post, I posted my favorite water photo taken on my home River Swift in Western MA. I do think we tend to envision many of the same ideas which is just fine with me! Keep on providing such soothing, reassuring, and sometimes challenging bits of wisdom and love for your fellow human beings!

I appreciate the opportunity to pause and become more aware and thoughtful about my impact on those around me. It is humbling to think also about the effects on our brain chemistry, especially in the high intensity, faced paced environment of healthcare change.
Meditation is a practice that seems to change my brain chemistry for the better and so I try to greet my day in this way.
Your image of water cascading is so lovely and I am looking forward to immersing myself in a New England autumn soon. Thank you for today’s moments of refreshment and Beauty, Erie

I am taking a moment to gaze out of my window at the beautiful scenery and it is bringing me immediate comfort.
I will take music over medication any day!
