My wish for you

Beannacht-Blessing by -John O’ Donohue

On the day when
The weight deadens
On your shoulders
And you stumble,
May the clay dance
To balance you.

And when your eyes
Freeze behind
The grey window
And the ghost of loss
Gets into you,
May a flock of colours,
Indigo, red, green
And azure blue,
Come to awaken in you
A meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays
In the currach of thought
And a stain of ocean
Blackens beneath you,
May there come across the waters
A path of yellow moonlight
To bring you safely home.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
May the clarity of light be yours,
May the fluency of the ocean be yours,
May the protection of the ancestors be yours.

And so may a slow
Wind work these words
Of love around you,
An invisible cloak
To mind your life.

What a blessing you are, Liz. Thank you. Your painting draws me into stillness and there I melt into the Beauty of Presence. May you too be blessed.

I went to a Native American shrine this morning and read John O’Donohue’s blessing aloud to the clouds. The words seemed so real and palatable. The colors, the waters, the ancestors that had worshiped this earth before me. I closed my eyes and I imagined the gentle breeze of a Thunderbirds wings envelop me in harmonic love.
Thank you Liz for this inspiration.

Your artwork is such a find companion to O’Donohue’s prayer. As Maureen says, “What a blessing you are.” Thank you for you painting. Thank you for sharing this:

In addition to the ancestors I imagine the reading aloud of John’s blessing invoked his loving spirit to mingles with “all that ever was, is to come and ever shall be.” Amen I appreciate your full embrace of the Thunderbirds wings!
