Beneath our feetIt is easy to love you when you are kind & not when you are stern. It's simple to love your wit & complex to comprehend your self-pity.

I don't like your anger, do like your apologies, don't like you calling yourself stupid & do like your intelligence.

Stop confusing people with your remarkable compassion & startling condescension.

I like you when you give the benefit of a doubt & wonder why you won't give it to yourself.

You love the truth & are gifted at lying. You are vain & I understand. You're a pain when you preach, persuasive when you invite & often confuse the two.

You are foolish to feel ashamed & wise to accept responsibility; foolish to seek credit & wise when you don't; genuine & a hypocrite.

Your curiosity is your genius & stop asking so many questions.

Thank you for being just, but not for judging; for being funny but not for thinking you are funny.

I hate your deceptions & am astounded by your accomplishments. Your courage is as astonishing as your cowardice.

Thanks for protecting the vulnerable. Why don't you do more? Your persistence is profound & you give up too easily.

What is it with your energy & why do you love life & hate it? You are healthy & you suffer; good-looking & self-conscious.

Thank you for changing lives & darn you for not knowing you are enough.

I love you (or am trying to)  even though you are me.

What a wonderful reflection, Erie, your marvelous candor as a profoundly human and loving expression and especially the last two lines of your prose. You are enough, loved as you are. We are enough, loved as we are…I am enough loved as I am…it is a lovely gift to hear those words and let them sink in because they are true. To kindly welcome in all aspects of ourselves with kindness.
I love you most especially because YOU are YOU!

Your kindness continues to express itself in such beautiful ways, Liz. You are such a remarkable gift to so many as well as to me. Lynn Romanus (a follower I have never met) offered a spectacular quote on the subject of this essay: “”I’m still learning to love the parts of me that no one claps for.” — Rudy Francisco

Radical Loving includes radical self examination. It seems this aspect of leadership is so often side-stepped. I’m drawn to this week’s journal as much as any I’ve read here. The leaders I want to follow must have done their personal inventories as evidenced in this poetic offering. Thank you!!

Chip: I much admire you the person! Yes, you are highly gifted as a artist, composer, writer, TV star, and movie Director; and the list could go on. But what I truly like is your courage to keep creating new works: this Journal of Sacred Work, is a prime example.
Just think of how many people have drawn encouragement and hope from your words. Grounded in love, the Journal validly reflects who you are. And I, as your Cousin, am very proud of what you do, but more proud of your becoming.
