Anne Milligan_n 2014" The greatest obsession that humanity suffers is of 'that which should be'.  It is a kind of madness.
The really healthy person has no concern with that which should be. His whole concern is the immediate, that which is. And you will be surprised: if you enter into the immediate, you will find the ultimate in it.  If you move into that which is close by, you will find all the distant stars in it. If you move in the present moment, the whole eternity is in your hands." Osho

Note from Liz Wessel: Guest essay and art graciously provided by friend and artist,  Anne Milligan

For years and years, I have had a recurring dream wherein I am participating in an Irish Clogging dance, and (to my amazement) my feet are simply moving, floating across the floor at breakneck speed, as I make the moves with my own feet.

It has happened so many times that I feel as if I could start moving my feet right now and just sail off into the music of my generational homeland. Yet, I know there is something far more potent in this dream theme. My Celtic sisters and brothers will definitely recognize the meaning here.

In this watercolor painting, ("Dancing with the Stars"), I wanted to convey the brilliance of our BEING, how we dance in a cosmic adventure here on our planet, and how everything dances and sings.

Our own soul is Holy Ground. Our miter is a flaming fire and our torch a light for the world. Harmony and balance is our music. Joy is our essence and we are wired for the MUSIC of the SPHERES.

Do not “pass your torch” to the culture of celebrity (pervasive though it may be). Everything is possible. Everything is connected. YOU are a star! We are stardust together in a cosmic soup of infinite possibility!

I love the enlivening energy in your painting, Anne. Doesn’t music has a way of moving us to life? I have often found that as I have sat listening to artist perform my feet start to tapping and then they start o moving and I can barely contain them. They seem to want to push past my inhibitions and dance free. Sometimes they win and it is an exhilarating experience that I love, love, LOVE! Sometimes I imagine that this is because of my Irish Heritage and that my ancestors passed on their passion to me through our DNA. Regardless, I think that singing and dancing is the ideal deal way to move through life. I guess because it is so affirming and engaging in this dance called life. Anne, thank you for your the gift of loving affirmation, and may our dreams dance true!

What beautiful art and thoughts. They make me smile and want to dance, joyous in being right where I am not where I think I should be. Thank you so much!

Anne: yours is a beautiful painting-music lifts our being up to the heavens and we feel we are floating’ in the clouds. In clogging the dance is usually with others and not individually as in tap dancing. As you write Anne “we are star dust together in the cosmic soup of possibilities”. What an encouragement. Liz your quote from from Osho “if you enter into the immediate you will find the ultimate in it” is beautiful. This whole picture brings me to the enjoyment of the song in the Sound of Music composition where Eliza Doolittle expresses her exhilaration and excitement after an impromptu dance with her tutor Henry Higgins. She refused to go to bed. “I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night…”
