[Weekend Note: Liz Wessel has experienced a temporary family health emergency. Her posts will resume next weekend. I know she will be grateful for your prayers]    Silver sea 2

Midday the sky paints the ocean silver. It looks permanent. It is no more enduring than the creatures that swim beneath until their solitary ending. "For the dying of a particular being," Czeslaw Milosz writes, "is its own private business…"

We are falling through time with our life on the line. Where is life's solace? We can celebrate what we have rather than rue what we do not.

Joy is grounded in love. There is no victory without it & love's candor is a hard master.

Speaking, receiving & living the full truth demands profound courage. I wish I had that level of valor. Instead, I only ask love to enable passion & to teach wisdom to pass along.

Behold the truth tellers! They know truth matters more than life's liquid time piece so they speak it & take the consequences. I admire them more than I can say, write, preach or live. They are the heroes. They provoke and embarrass us into life. They are the ones to whom we owe a gratitude we don't even know how to express.

The same is true of America’s finest caregivers. They live love against constant challenges not to. They meet the needs of others when they are themselves exhausted. They come to help us when we are most desperate for help. That is why their leaders must support them with love.

It is such a difficult job. It is such a fine way to fall through time.

I really like the imagery of a still sky, yet surrounded by an ocean of life.
Last night I went to a scripture reading where the person was talking about illusions of life…
A pond is covered with a thick layer of scum/algae. Throw a rock into the pond and the scum is displaced and one sees the clear water (Truth) within. The scum then covers back the hole, and the image of Joy is gone. But it was there and we now work harder than ever to find the Truth and Joy in our lives. Though one life may be nearing and end, a caregiver choses to get up and spend their precious moments to make sure a soul does not fall through the cracks.
Caregivers touch souls and those souls touch the caregivers souls. A flow of Beauty and Love. Karma touching karma.
Falling though time? Time to change direction and climb.

Erie, I am so blessed, touched, and astounded by your beautiful words. They give meaning to my very being and encourage me to “live love against constant challenges not to…to meet the needs of others when [I am] exhausted…to help [others] when they are most desperate for help.” You and Liz have helped me more than you will ever know..to greet each day with the grace of a truth teller. My journey is so much richer, courageous, and filled with eternal joy because of you! Thank you my friends.

Yes. You and I are blessed, Liz, by the chance we have to bring light to caregivers – and blessed to receive it back from so many of them.

Erie: thank you and Liz too for both your concerns for caregivers who dedicate their lives to those who are in need. I admit that at times care-giving can be exhausting and those who read this Journal must find it refreshing, strengthening and their spirit being uplifted. As one who has gone through this journey I encourage other caregivers to keep on providing self care, sometimes we could find this journey exhausting but we must not allow ourselves to languish in our spirit but to move on as within each one of us we have the utmost strength, courage and persistence to sustain us and reach our goal in life. We pray that those who lead the care givers will provide support. sbeng

Thank you, Suan. I hope that caregivers will heed your encouragement “to keep on providing self care.”

Thank you Erie. So sorry to read the news of Liz who is so full of care and caring love. May some of that care flow to her at this time. Here in Australia and New Zealand we are commemorating the Centenary of ANZAC Day – a day when our nation was forged through disaster at war. Out of it grew mateship, courage, compassion, love and a sense of fair go for everyone – qualities of caring?
