Days 279-280 Summer Days

Summer days are made for cloud gazing. Looking heavenward opens a majestic view.

Vast land formations that were once whole are now separated by only a fathomless blue sea.  Hints of how ancient our world really is.

A geography lesson begs to be explored. Forms take shape to reveal each continents history. Interlocking puzzle pieces that wish to share their story; your story.

    I was watching the news this morning and they showed a beautiful picture of a fire rainbow. It looked like hands stretching upwards after prayer. I saw this just after reading Liz’s reflection for the day. All these pictures bring home the longing for Love and Beauty.
    The flowing white changing shapes can remind us of loved ones that have passed, floating above us. The shadows cast are touching the world with their love for us. A feeling of reassurance that all is well while we sit and meditate.
    The clouds were once streams or oceans, creeks or rivers, ponds or tears. To sit in a meadow and look up at a cloud and imagine…a cloud opens up and showers us with its life, there could be a bit of our mother’s tears in the rain, as she shed them during the joy of our birth.
    Liz, absolutely love the travelers on the porch – they are exquisite! Oh, the places they have seen…with their windswept hair.
    There is a group that adores clouds…
    The Manifesto of The Cloud Appreciation Society
    WE BELIEVE that clouds are unjustly maligned
    and that life would be immeasurably poorer without them.
    We think that they are Nature’s poetry,
    and the most egalitarian of her displays, since
    everyone can have a fantastic view of them.
    We pledge to fight ‘blue-sky thinking’ wherever we find it.
    Life would be dull if we had to look up at
    cloudless monotony day after day.
    We seek to remind people that clouds are expressions of the
    atmosphere’s moods, and can be read like those of
    a person’s countenance.
    We believe that clouds are for dreamers and their contemplation benefits the soul.
    Indeed, all who consider the shapes they see in them will save money
    on psychoanalysis bills.
    And so we say to all who’ll listen:
    Look up, marvel at the ephemeral beauty, and live life with your head in the clouds!

    As I was wonder-ing at the Beauty that the seasons reveal I could not help but recall the fires that are playing havoc in parts of the USA. Beauty comes to us in so many wonder-filled ways, even through what seems to be ever so damaging. Thank you Liz for encouraging us to look heavenward, even here in the southern hemisphere where this winter’s day feel more like summer.

    Wow, thanksJVD, your reflection is a marvelous companion to my essay. Thank you for opening the heavens with your contemplation. Yes, I came across these companions in Maine, which seemed to express a whimsical, fun and adventurous spirit. Of all the beauty nature displays clouds are my favorite.

    Agree, thanks for commenting, Wood. This came my way this morning and I thought I would share it.
