"Look deeply into nature and then you will understand everything better." -Albert Einstein

Wyoing

When I thought about a message that could inspire, this image came to mind.

It is a reflection that does not require words.

  Nature is a great teacher.

If we are attentive we experience a deeper awareness.

What thoughts stir within, as you spend time with this photo?

Can you forge any connections  with your own life?

For me, this photo is majestic and seems to connect earth and heaven and me to my maker. There is peacefulness, a knowing. This beautiful horse is in his or her element grazing without a care. Without questioning; he is a part of all that is. He receives sustenance that flows in congruence with life’s natural unfolding. The miraculous beauty of the whole affirms my connection with a greater good, an intelligence that is at the heart of our universe.

I am reminded that our precious earth cannot be taken for granted or as Pope Frances cautions, do not objectify and disrespect our environment. For all life is sacred and we are intricately interconnected with all that lives. What happens to one affects the whole.

There is so much in your niece’s fine image. The contrast of climates in a single picture, the comparison of colors from myriad shades of green and blue to the textures of fields, mountains, clouds and sky, the startling difference in altitudes. The single, visible animal offers both loneliness and peace. And this is just the beginning of what is there.

    O beautiful for spacious skies,
    For amber waves of grain,
    For purple mountain majesties
    Above the fruited plain!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
    From sea to shining sea!
Scenes like this one inspired these great lyrics.
    Inspiration comes from many places.
Today it is brought to us by Wyoming!
Now that the horse is famous I think I will try and get its autograph when traveling through next month.

Funny but I too sang those words to myself yesterday after having gazed at this photo.
Oh lucky you… I have never been, have fun!
Thanks for participating and expanding this reflection, Jolyon!

Thank you for your response, Erie and for your lovely observations. On a side note, in another photo taken one can see other horses grazing in this field as well. What a lovely place to pause and be nourished by mother earth. Yes, peace… sweet peace and tranquility.
