Holy Night

Advent Poem by Rainer Maria Rilke

In the winter forest the wind drives
the flock of snowflakes like a shepherd,
And a fir tree senses how soon
she will be blessed with candle-light,

and strains to hear. She shelters
the white ways with her branches – ready
to resist the wind, reaching towards
the one Holy Night.

Beautiful drawing, Liz! I will keep it and use as wallpaper, at least. Actually, wallpaper is an under-rated bit of our world, eh? It can remind one of what is beautiful, interesting, or provocative, with just a glance. It is s mind enhancer, for sure. Enjoy the holidays with all you love and all you meet!

Thank you, Terry. Images do stir the soul for sure. I wish the same for you and your family. Blessed Christmas and bless us all!

As lovely as is the Rilke poem I like your watercolor even better. Best of all is the way you combined the two, Liz. THAT is such a beautiful sign of your genius – that you not only create art but appreciate the work of others and know how to create partnerships between you and various artists like Rilke.
I love that my cousin Terry is actually keeping your piece as wallpaper so that it will “remind one of what is beautiful, interesting, or provocative – with just a glance.”
Thank you for blessing us with the light from one of your candles. Art is one of your finest languages and I am grateful for everything you bring to caregivers through the Journal.
