Up in the air!   We want THE answer in the fewest words. Here are three: You are enough.

We need experience & reflection to understand how powerful those three words are.

   Rumi writes:

I must have been incredibly simple or drunk or insane
to sneak into my own house and steal money,
to climb over the fence and take my own vegetables.
But no more. I've gotten free of that ignorant fist
that was pinching and twisting my secret self.

The universe and the light of the stars come through me.
I am the crescent moon put up
over the gate to the festival.

We think we are not enough. That is why Rumi accuses himself of breaking "into my own house [to] steal money."

Whenever I accuse myself of unworthiness I am "…twisting my secret self."

Have you done that? Time to pay yourself back, to recognize that you are enough. You are the child flung into the air by your loving father & you are also the father & you are the daughter & the mother & the caregiver.

You are "the crescent moon put up/ over the gate to the festival."

   Welcome.

The imagery is superbly done! Sometimes we look at festivals as “for someone else”, certainly not us. But all of us have been invited to the greatest festival of all: planet Earth! With dances; special treats to taste and enjoy; old friends and new friends to play with–so many pleasant experiences to behold and be a part of.
The only thing required is to join in the merriment; let yourself go; rejoice! You are a significant and welcomed member of our human race but you can’t enter the festival activities from your sofa!

Thank you, Erie for reminding me that this is the frame of mind I wish to hold for the upcoming season of reflection, for myself and those I love.
Remembering the power of these words when spoken with a listening heart.

This message is so helpful to hear today; every day. Too often I think I am the only one who has these thoughts of not being enough, of feeling unworthy. Wisdom says that these thoughts are that-just thought and we can let them go without judgement but rather with a softening of our heart.
Tara Brach shared this quote and I wish to share it with you. “All you need is already within you, only you must approach your self with reverence and love. Self-condemnation and self-distrust are grievous errors. All I plead with you is this: make love of your self perfect. Give your self infinity and eternity and discover that you do not need them; you are beyond.” Sri Nisargadatta
Thank you for such a simple yet profound and beautiful reflection, Erie. Blessings and a compassionate heart for all of us.
P.S. I love the photo of your granddaughter and all that is captured within the image!
