Shelter of Greaat Belonging 3

Prayer

All-powerful God,

You are present in the whole Universe
and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.

Fill us with peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters,
harming no one. O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten
of this Earth, so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain
at the expense of the poor and the Earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,
to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united with every
creature as we journey towards your infinite light.

We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray,
in our struggle for justice, love and peace.

Pope Francis

This piece has the feel of joining the bests cultural and human values and prayers! I am touched by its universal appeal to the best within us on Earth: love each other; love the Earth; and that we are all journeying together, toward an infinite light: directed down to us in our human frailties, with love, hope, and interconnected universality! I will pass this along, with its perfectly wrought art, to everyone I know; thank you for posting this!

An inspiring start to our Easter Day. May that Spirit of Belonging draw us into the Great Embrace. Thank you Liz.

The first words I thought of when I read Pope Francis’s prayer were Peace, Love and Understanding.
Which got me to start humming and singing quietly to myself the Nick Lowe tune popularized by Elvis Costello ‘(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding’. And isn’t this day of Easter all about Peace, Love and Understanding? Which led me to look up the origin of Easter. Now associated with the Resurrection of Christ, it’s origins are thought to be a germanic goddess and a Norwegian goddess. Goddesses of springtime and renewal. During this time of renewal of vows and faith, say or sing aloud the Love of Mother Nature and Spring Eternal with Peace, Love and Understanding.
    Thank you Liz.

I had to go and check out the song that you offered Jolyon. Thanks for sharing it and the lyrics are really great!
As I walk through this wicked world
Searching for light in the darkness of insanity
I ask myself is all hope lost
Is there only pain and hatred and misery
And each time I feel like this inside
Just one thing I want to know
What’s So Funny bout Peace, Love, and Understanding oh
What’s So Funny bout Peace, Love, and Understanding
As I walk on through troubled times
My spirit gets so down hearted sometimes
So where are the strong who are the trusted
And where is the harmony sweet harmony
Cause each time I feel it slippin’ away
Just makes me want to cry
What’s So Funny bout Peace, Love, and Understanding oh
What’s So Funny bout Peace, Love, and Understanding
So where are the strong who are the trusted
And where is the harmony sweet harmony
Cause each time I feel it slippin’ away
    Namaste friend!
