“Your heart and my heart are very, very old friends.” -Hafiz

Life is a rich tapestry

What is life, if not our friendships & our relationships with one another? Life comes full circle.

As a child our hearts are naturally open & trusting. Little woundings cause us to bend & mold ourselves

             to belong…

                        to be accepted…

                                    to be loved…

As adults we are driven by the passion of our ambitions, we strive to find our place in the world; to create our identity & to make our mark.

Life comes full circle when we remember…

             what matters most;

                        people, relationships, our family & friends

                                     we recognize as Hafiz did that

“Your heart and my heart are very, very old friends.”

    Beautiful mandalas: written and drawn!! The circle has always been a powerful metaphor for life and has reappeared frequently in my travels and adventures.
    In my youth, I always loved to listen to grownups and their life stories. My career paths took me to management and then to recreation programming; then to national intelligence work and the YMCA; but my Circle was not complete.
    Years later, when I advised Northeastern University students on experiential cooperative education learning, I felt professionally complete in coaching, advising, teaching, and even inspiring adults from all walks of life. And the four seasons of our earthly weather, all come round in a circle every year. Our grounding as human beings arises from this circular cycle and our relationships often with just one other person, form a small intimate circle of being!

    A Tree of Life, its’ branches spreading upward, seeking enlightenment. Seeking room to breathe and flower. The roots holding on tight to the past, grasping for strength, seeking to expand outward. The tree knows it cannot do it alone. It needs others. When it was young it needed food and nourishment. Mother Earth provided rain and shelter, sunshine and seasons. The birds and bees came to talk and listen every year. Decades later the tree now provides for the children of the forest. The shelter and shade, the flowers and fruit. Once the branches just reached upward. Now they reach outward and hug the forest. It is a Tree of Love thanks to old friends…
