CyrusOurs is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely.” ~Clarissa Pinkola Estes

What comes to mind when you think of "stretching out to mend a part of the world" that is in need of healing…

Many thoughts, images and feelings come to mind. This photograph of my grandson, taken at age 5, lifts my spirit. His bouquet of dandelions was one of the most priceless gifts I've ever received. An offering simple, yet so loving.

We live in a such a complex world yet even the smallest act of kindness carries within it great potential and can have a profound impact beyond our ever knowing.

How I pray you just spend time with your grandchildren. not the worlds woose.. the big will not help the small. how you plant your seed to them is more important than those who seek not sure what.. The Lord tells me somehow.. I am stupid.. be with your grandchildren..

Thank you for this, Liz. Amid complexity, even the “simple” can seem complex. In fact, the single gesture of your sweet grandson generated a complex range of ripples through your open & hungry heart. That is the gift of your gift today and everyday – the power of simple things. So refreshing, encouraging & holy.

Hi Sue! Just jumping in with a quick side note. You are so kind to encourage Liz to spend time with her grandchildren. At the same time, that may or may not be the calling SHE hears from God. As the happy grandfather of five grandchildren it is a spectacular gift to be able to spend time with them whenever I go to far off Boston. My children are planting wonderful “seeds” and I add to those as best I can.
Meanwhile, what I hear from God is that those who have been blessed with strength must be among the “big” who DO help the “small. This is the tradition of Mother Teresa who had no grandchildren and also for Eleanor Roosevelt who DID.
Liz is among the strong. We continue to need her big contributions to help those seeking direction. She is the ultimate mission director and I pray she stays with whatever calling she hears. Love and blessings to you, Sue.
