We are honored to offer the following guest post by Dr. Terry Chapman:
At this time of the year-summer-our thoughts and energy turn outward to the splendors of planet Earth. Our spirits get revived as we walk, run, swim, fish, golf, and often regain our youthful love of life!
But are we genuinely grateful for these gifts of God? And do we use that high energy level to become better caregivers? As a career/life coach, I became acutely aware that if I took good care of myself, I could provide higher quality care for those I served!
And the other focus to increase your caregiving energy level is to schedule quiet time to be alone to pray, meditate, do yoga stretches, listen to soothing music and daydream to your heart's content.
If these activities are not part of your regular routine: Stop; breathe deeply; and try something new from both the active and passive types of activity.
No one else will make these changes; only you can make it happen!
