1469Within light there is darkness,

But do not try to understand that darkness.

Within darkness there is light,

But do not look for that light.

Light and darkness are a pair,

Like the foot before and the
foot behind in walking.

–Shih’tuo, a verse from the Sandokai

We are always evolving; our lives are always passing and we
know our being here is a precious gift. Oft times, we overthink in an attempt
to better understand the constellations of our lives.

Yet, I love the simple pleasures that can arise when we let
go and step into the present moment.

It is just getting light here. The morning is very quiet,
peaceful, and the birds have a lot to say. Two crows suddenly disrupt the calm,
high up in a backyard tree, a cacophony of noise. I can’t help wonder what all their
fuss is about. Ah, off they go…thank you!

May you and I discover simple pleasures in loving this day.

Thank you for your description and for drawing us into you light-filled moments, Liz. Yes, “the birds have a lot to say”. I wonder if we are listening.

Liz, we are gifted with so much. Thank you for reminding us once again to slow down, to notice, to be in awe, to be contemplative and allow the Present Moment to absorb us where we are.

A nice study of a quiet morning [except for the crows], also a great shot of you and the grand kids.
