A Beauty

This is our purpose; it is why we are here.

In the age of innocence, children simply see and feel without filters. A ball is red. The sky is blue. Over time, a child's responses become conditioned by the external messages received from a societal mirror. Layers upon layers cover over until we lose sight of our real essence.

The temporary nature of our life here on earth reinforces a perception that we are bound by time. This is a root cause of fear for many of us. Yet, Love is limitless and flows beyond the confines of time.

We are more than our physical bodies. Our thoughts matter. What we think influences how we see. What we don’t accept in ourselves we attempt to discard by projecting it outwards. Yet, all spiritual truths tell us to look within.

Love is the seed of all creation. What is born of Love is true. We can return to this simple awareness and listen for the still small voice to guide us home. It only takes a little willingness on our part to see anew.

As we begin to see only Beauty that is in the person before us, we begin to see it in ourselves as well.

“I have come to bring out the beauty
you never knew you had,
and lift you like a prayer to the sky."
-Rumi

If only I could live from that Truth always, to see Beauty in the other person! Thanks Liz for your gentle reminder of what is important in life. Your mandala draws me into the colours and delight of Beauty revealed and hidden.

This beautiful essay is a prayer, Liz. So is your remarkable painting which I experience as an eye looking without and within – also a being who is, like an iceberg part above water and part hidden below and perhaps as us floating in the cosmos – images of birds or fireflies sparkling in our existence.
I agree wit Sister that if only all of could focus on seeking beauty in the other person the world would be remarkable – could there even be conflict if we looked in such a way.
“Love is the seed of all creation. What is born of Love is true,” you write to all of us. At a personal level, you have helped me tune the depths of my hearing to “…listen for the still small voice to guide us home.”

Thank you Sister Maureen and Erie for your loving affirmations. Erie, I appreciate the description you offer in your special way of “seeing.” Mandala art is filled with symbolism and is a part of my spiritual journey. I feel blessed to be able to share it and I thank you both for blessing me in this way. ~liz
